POSITION SUMMARY
The Grant Coordinator Assistant provides administrative support and helps identify, define, and develop funding sources for current and future programs. They assist in writing and submitting grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies. Additionally, they manage federal grant awards and negotiate grant terms. Key duties include preparing proposals and grant applications, researching and identifying grant opportunities that align with the Metlakatla Indian Community mission, and collecting, analyzing, and reporting data on funded program activities. The position also involves supporting Department Heads and Directors in developing grant proposals.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares proposals working with the Grant Coordinator, by determining concept, gathering, and formatting information, writing drafts, and obtaining approvals.
- Determines proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs, studying requests for proposal (RFPs), and attending planning meetings.
- Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, approval, and transmittal.
- Gathers proposal information by identifying sources of information, coordinating submissions and collections, and identifying and communicating risks associated with proposals.
- Develops proposal by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation.
- Assists with grant award negotiations such as refining grant proposals based on requests for information and other aspects of grant awarding.
- Writes, revises, and edits drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials.
- Prepares presentation by evaluating text, graphics, and binding and coordinating printing.
- Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases.
- Follows MIC Procedures and Policies to obtain approvals by reviewing proposal with key stakeholders Grant Coordinator.
- Improves proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplate.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; maintaining personal networks.
- Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- May coordinate project activities; prepares and processes letters and correspondence, presentation materials, and manuscripts; maintains funding opportunity databases, activity tracking system, and related confidential files.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
- Must be able to pass a drug test.
- BS/BA degree in appropriate field preferred, or at least three years’ experience in planning, management, or grant writing with a nonprofit organization.
